Dikembe Mutombo’s 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World.
You may have seen this already, but I don’t care. It’s the greatest thing to possibly ever happen in the history of the world: A Dikembe Mutombo NES style video game. To be more specific, it’s Dikembe Mutombo’s 4 1/2 Weeks to Save the World.
This game comes from some people at Old Spice who clearly have too much time on their hands and involves Dikembe Mutombo going on some classic 8-bit adventures to save the world from the end of The Mayan calendar on December 21. He also has a sidekick, a sweater wearing bear with a British accent named Science the Bear. Of course.
Thank to Rumors & Rants for providing me with the first look at this. According to their post,
The first level involves throwing ballots to American citizens “Paperboy”-style due to the risk of the Gangnam Style dance making them forget to vote on election day. The second level looks to be more of a Super Mario Bros. homage, as you have to jump on top of creatures described as Blurgies in order to save Thanksgiving.
Oh, and the cursor is Mutombo’s wagging finger, just in case this all wasn’t awesome enough for you in the first place.
I’d say that the second level is more of a Gradius meets Indiana Jones meets Dikembe Mutombo sort of mashup, if that makes any sense at all. But decide for yourself…
